"The Art of Loving Yourself "

All you really need to do is accept this moment fully. You are then at ease in the here and now and at ease with yourself. -Eckhart Tolle

Nowadays, people put themselves down and make themselves feel that they are not good enough. We know everyone has some conditions and finding unconditional love from someone else is almost impossible. Only loving ourselves has no conditions.

So, what do we mean when we say” “SELF-LOVE”?

Self-love isn’t selfish or self-centered. Self-love is one of the best things one can do for self. It means “love for self”. It is acceptance, compassion and a general positive, even affectionate feeling about who you are. For many of us, we need to conquer and keep our demons in check. Loving yourself means recognizing your own self-worth and living your own life as honestly as you can.

Luckily, with a little patience, you can learn to love yourself, too. These are some of the ways how to embrace yourself for who you are:

1. Do things that makes you feel good:

Do what it takes to feel good in multiple ways. It may require exercise, meditation, dancing and keeping a positivity journal. Find a routine that feels good and stick to it.

2. Don’t be scared of expressing yourself:

Be honest with your emotions. Be creative and express yourself in whatever way you like. Painting, writing, dancing, music whatever and make sure you leave your inner critic at the door. Know that by being open with what you feel, you are being your authentic self.

3. Forgive yourself for your mistakes:

Instead of blaming yourself for the mistakes you committed in the past, try to discover the lessons these failures/mistakes might have taught you. Reflecting on your mistakes can help you to forgive and forget. You can’t change the things you have done in the past but you can control your future. Look at it as a learning experience and believe in your ability to change.

4. Be kind to yourself:

Self-love is ever evolving. It’s something that needs to be practiced daily. So be kind and support yourself through the hard times. Start your day with telling yourself something positive. Fill your body with food and drink that nourishes it.

5. Give yourself a break:

No one is perfect. Sometimes things may happen wrong but you just need to calm your mind. Give yourself a break time to time. Try and put aside an hour a day and just relax. Having a break from the chaos of life will help you in taking care and loving yourself.

6. Trust yourself:

Having trust in oneself does not only mean that you have faith in your abilities, but also that you are courageous enough to follow your intuition, whenever this inner guidance and wisdom gives you advice. It takes a lot of courage to follow where the heart leads, especially when the rational mind suggests you not do, but it also takes a lot of faith in oneself to do so. Therefore, listening to your intuition will strengthen the trust you have in yourself, allowing you to rely on your own strengths and abilities.

7. Self-appreciation:

Self-Appreciation is not self-esteem or feeling special, it is accepting your uniqueness instead. Take time to appreciate your existence. Celebrate your achievements. Create a list of what you have achieved. This makes you feel good about yourself and find happiness from what you have accomplished.

“You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that makes you a winner right here.” – Venus Williams

Have fun! Get out there and do the things that light your fire. Enjoy them, enjoy being you and enjoy your incredible life. Make yourself a priority. It’s not selfish. It is necessary. Love yourself the way you are.
